As the only gas detection manufacturer to offer two lines of detector tubes, Uniphos Envirotronic Inc. now has KwikDraw and Uniphos Nitrogen Dioxide and Nitric Oxide tube sets available.
“These tubes are the latest additions to our inventory in North America,” said Ed Ligus, Global Product Manager. “We are pleased to be able to offer these important measurement tools to our clients to help enhance their safety procedures in the industry.”
Nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide are by-products of fuel combustion and whenever any fossil fuel is burnt. Most stationary emissions come from coal fired power plants. The majority of mobile emissions are attributed to cars, trucks and trains used to transport people, goods and chemicals.
Two primary industrial sources of NO and NO2 are the production of nitric and adipic acid. NO2 is an important intermediate in the chemical industry, an oxidizing agent, catalyst and as an oxidizer in rocket fuels.
Other sources of nitrogen dioxide are petrol and metal refining, manufacturing industries and food processing. “Our Uniphos and KwikDraw tubes are both equally useful for our clients to ensure the levels of nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide are within acceptable limits,” said Ligus.
There are five tests per box using two tubes for each measurement. The NO2 and NO tubes are connected using an enclosed piece of tubing to join the tubes end to end prior to the measurement. Each test is carried out with a single pump stroke with a measurement time of approximately one minute.
“It’s a very simple and reliable process that ensures accurate results on the spot,” said Ligus.
